Frequently Asked Questions

Q. WHAT ARE YOUR OPENING TIMES?

A. Dave's Drums is run from our family home and we don't have opening times as such.

However, if you give Dave a call on 07787154317, he'll be happy to chat through your requirements and arrange for you to pop over at a mutually convenient time.

Dave's around most weekday daytimes, although he does teach drums all day on a Saturday.

Q. WHY SHOULD I BUY MY DRUM KIT FROM DAVE'S DRUMS?

A. We pride ourselves on supplying fantastically refurbished drum kits that look as good as new.

Every drum kit is stripped right back to bare shells. Corrosion is removed from lugs, bolts, washers and hoops, the shells are cleaned then the drums are reassembled with new tom and snare batter heads (either Evans or Code). Bass drum heads and resonant heads are replaced if they are worn or damaged, as are any other parts where possible.

This means that we are able to offer you a totally refurbished second hand drum kit that looks as good as new, but at a far lower price than a new drum kit.

Q. HOW CAN I PAY?

A. We are happy to accept payment by cash, card, PayPal or bank transfer. The only exception is drum lessons, for which we don't accept cards.

Q. CAN I PAY IN INSTALLMENTS?

A. Unfortunately we are unable to offer credit, although we do accept credit cards. If buying on our website, you can pay using PayPal who do offer a Pay in 3 option to eligible customers.

Q. DAVE, DON'T I KNOW YOU FROM SOMEWHERE?

A. It's entirely possible!
Dave has worked in various drum shops, including DrumWright in Woodley (and a few music shops in Bath).
He's also worked at the London Drum Show on several occasions.
Dave has gigged around the country, so you may have spotted him sweating behind the kit!

Q. WHERE IS YOUR SHOP?

A. We don't have a shop.

Dave's Drums is run from our family home, which is about 5 minutes from junction 11 of the M4 (near Reading).

However, check out One Day Drum Shop...

Q. I DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT DRUMS, BUT I NEED A DRUM KIT (OR OTHER GEAR) FOR MY CHILD/HUSBAND/GIRLFRIEND/COUSIN - CAN YOU HELP?

A. Of course! We have helped people in this situation many times.

Dave has a wealth of experience is happy to give thorough and honest (FREE!) advice.

Q. DO YOU BUY DRUM GEAR, OR OFFER PART EXCHANGE?

A. We do, however, we will always point out that you will likely get a higher price selling privately (similar to part exchanging a car).

Q. I'M LOOKING FOR AN ELECTRONIC KIT; CAN YOU HELP?

A. I'm afraid we only sell acoustic drum kits.

Q. HOW LONG HAS DAVE'S DRUMS BEEN IN BUSINESS?

A. Dave's Drums was established in January 2015, although Dave has worked in the drum industry for over 20 years.

Q. CAN YOU SET UP MY DRUM KIT FOR ME?

A. Absolutely!

If you purchase a drum kit from us, delivery and set-up are included in the cost within 15 miles of driving distance of our postcode. Outside this, we charge 45p per mile for delivery/set-up (the first 15 miles each way are included).

If you have purchased a drum kit elsewhere, Dave can set up and tune it for you (within 15 miles of our address) - see our "Drum Workshop" tab for current prices.

Q. IS DAVE'S DRUMS RUN BY DRUMMERS?

A. Yes and no. Dave has been playing drums since he was 12 (over 30 years). Sophie has had one lesson (from Dave), although they did meet in a wind band as teenagers, so Sophie is a musical type!

Q. CAN YOU REPAIR MY BROKEN DRUM GEAR?

A. It's very likely!
If you have a pedal or stand that needs fixing (as long as nothing structural has actually snapped) Dave would relish the chance to fix it for you. Also rattling snares, toms that won't tune...arrange to bring them over.

Q. YOUR PRICES ARE LOWER ON YOUR WEBSITE THAN ON EBAY - WHY?

A. eBay charges (frankly extortionate!) fees on all sales which we don't incur when selling direct. We choose to pass this saving on to our customers.

Q. DO YOU HAVE A MAILING LIST?

A. We most certainly do! You can subscribe by filling in our form below, or by dropping us an email. We promise not to spam you!
