Since Dave is allergic to technology (and typing) and I wanted a blog on the website, I decided to do it myself! So, here we are, Dave's Drums. We only started out in January, after many months and years of discussing and procrastinating. Dave is a happy drummer - gigging, teaching and most of all restoring, repairing and cleaning drum stuff every day.
Dave was up until 3am today cleaning up this beautiful Sonor 3007. He's now having a well deserved lie-in. I never thought I'd say this, but I am really loving some of the kits we have been lucky enough to acquire. It's also a pleasure to see them brought back to their former glory and going to new homes, sometimes with experienced players and often to kids starting their drumming careers.
When Dave and I first met back in the 1990s (!!!), he was one of those kids. He had a kit in his bedroom, which basically was big enough for kit, bed and wardrobe, complete with silencers. I remember him being so proud of his Zildjian cymbals (although he now plays Sabian). We lost touch for many years when we were in our twenties, and when we got back in touch again he was an accomplished musician with a great reputation around Bath where he was living at the time.
Enough ramblings for now and on with the day!
