Dave's band, DeLorean, had the pleasure of being asked to play at the wedding of a former band drummer and he's fiancee yesterday. It was a long day for Dave (and myself), but also an amazing one.
We arrived at the venue at 12.30 to load Dave's gear in and for him to set up before the ceremony at 1.30. The wedding was being held at this awesome country house...
We both got a great workout carrying Dave's drum and sound gear from the car to the room where the reception was going to be held. My fitbit even registered it as "active minutes"! Here's the almighty pile of rawk before it was unpacked...
We had a small window for Dave to set up before the ceremony, then went off in search of some food. We had been pointed in the direction of a small country pub a few minutes' drive away. When we arrived it was completely packed, forcing us to head for the slightly less exciting option of an express supermarket.
When we got back, the rest of the band had started to arrive so set up started in earnest. By 4pm, the catering staff needed to use the room to serve food from, so we headed to the (sadly closed) bar.
As with many wedding, things were running a little late, so the sound check planned for 6.15 was at 7.15 instead!
With the soundcheck done and dusted, the evening kicked off with the bride's family doing a medley of songs, which was lots of fun. Then DeLorean played, joined by the bride and groom for a couple of numbers.
At the end of the night, all that was left to do (!!) was to pack up - a mere 2 hours. We got home at 2.30am then Dave was up and ready to teach for 9.30. A busy but epic and worthwhile day for two amazing people, to whom we wish many years of married happiness.
