Friday 20th November was an odd day - night owl Dave actually got up and was out of the house before i was even out of bed!! To quote Douglas Adams "this never happens".
Via DrumWright to collect some bits and bobs, he motored off to the London Drum Show to work on the Roland stand for the weekend. Exciting and glamorous though this may sound, Friday consisted of a huge amount of hard graft setting up the stand - dozens of electronic kits needed assembling, plugging in, testing etc...followed by a well earned meal at Pizza Express and maybe a couple of beers.
Another early start followed on Saturday to finish set up, with doors to the show opening at 10am.
There's a reason those working at the show pack ear plugs - for 15 minutes every hour, visitors are able to try out drums, cymbals and percussion to their hearts' content and it's NOISY!!! By the end of the day, all involved were ready to visit a local steak house and await half a cow landing on their plate (with a mild interruption when a diner, unhappy with his bill, punched a waiter!).
Sunday: repeat, without the cow! Doors shut at 6pm, followed by a quicker-than-set-up pack-down! Dave got home at 12.15am...and is still recovering!
